Today is the seventh day of 28 days of daily paintings that will drop first thing each morning. Each day, I’ll tell a little bit about my story as an artist and how it makes me who I am. I hope in sharing these little pieces of my heart, you will know how much painting means to me.
Three kids later, I still had very rarely touched my paints. I had been a professional photographer for years, but even that was getting difficult to do with all my home responsibilities. My oldest was starting kindergarten, and we were beginning our homeschooling journey. One day, when Vera wasn’t napping, she asked if we could paint. I got out an old canvas along with my box of acrylic paints and we began painting a portrait of her…together. We worked for over an hour, she on the background as I worked on the portrait, and I started crying. Why wasn’t I doing this every day?
