Today is the first day of 28 days of daily paintings that will drop first thing each morning. Each day, I’ll tell a little bit about my story as an artist and how it makes me who I am. I hope in sharing these little pieces of my heart, you will know how much painting means to me.
When I was younger, I was always creating. I was always making messes, and I was always trying to think of ways to make Christmas money so that I could buy just the right items for my large family. When I was about 11, my mother agreed to let me host a craft fair in our driveway. I made wooden vegetable decor, Santa ornaments, and watermelon paper mache bowls. It was a hit! I felt such joy in the creation of each precious item that it lit in me a spark I could never let go out.
